Action and regulation
Repair and precise regulation of the action responsible for control, dynamics and repetition.
The action converts the movement of a key into a precise hammer strike. Over time, wear, looseness and lost regulation can reduce control, create unevenness and slow the response of the instrument. We therefore begin by assessing the condition of the complete action and the way its components interact.
The work may include cleaning, repairing or replacing worn components and carefully regulating the mechanism. The aim is an even, predictable response and a useful dynamic range suited to the design of the particular upright or grand piano.
